This is what your proof of residence looks like in the Netherlands
Do you have temporary protection in the Netherlands? Then you will receive proof of residence in the Netherlands. This can be a sticker or pass. Sometimes you will also need a letter proving that you have temporary protection in the Netherlands. In this article you can read what your proof of residence looks like.
You are new to the Netherlands
Are you new to the Netherlands? Then you will get a proof of residence in the Netherlands if you apply at the
Make an appointment at the IND to apply for and pick up your proof of residence
You have Ukrainian citizenship and you have a letter about the extension of your temporary protection
Are you in the Netherlands for a longer period of time and have you received a letter from the IND stating that your temporary protection has been extended? Then you have a sticker or pass from the IND that was valid until 4 March 2023 or 4 March 2024. You have then received a letter from the IND stating that your sticker or pass together with the letter serve as your proof of residence in the Netherlands. With your pass or sticker and this letter you are entitled to temporary protection until at least 4 March 2026.
You may have already received an extension letter in January 2023. This letter then still counts as proof of residence along with your sticker or pass.

You had a permanent residence permit in Ukraine and you have a letter about the extension of your temporary protection
Are you in the Netherlands for a longer period of time and have you received a letter from the IND stating that your temporary protection has been extended? Then you have a pass that was valid until 4 March 2023 or 4 March 2024. This pass is also called an O-document. You received a letter from the IND in February telling you that you can pick up a new O-document. The new document is your new proof of residence in the Netherlands. This new document entitles you to temporary protection until at least 4 March 2025. You do not need the letter from the IND to prove your temporary protection.

You had a temporary residence permit in Ukraine and you get a letter from the IND
Was your temporary protection stopped in the Netherlands in March 2024 but you are now allowed to stay in the Netherlands under the temporary protection? Then you can collect a residence sticker from the IND from 6 May. You will receive a letter about this from the IND. This new sticker is your new proof of residence. With it you can show that you can stay in the Netherlands for the time being. With this sticker you can stay in the Netherlands at least until 4 March 2025 to await the ruling of the European court.
