Conditions for a permanent residence permit

Do you have a temporary asylum residence permit in the Netherlands and want a permanent residence permit? To get one, you must meet certain conditions. In this article you can read what these conditions are.

Requirements

In order to be eligible for a permanent residence permit, you must meet the

Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND)
conditions below:

  • You have lived in the Netherlands for at least 5 consecutive years with a valid Dutch asylum residence permit.

  • You live in the Netherlands and spend most of your time in the Netherlands.

  • You have always complied with the conditions of your residence permit. And you still meet those conditions now.

  • You are not a danger to Dutch society.

  • You did not give false information or withhold information when you applied for your current residence permit.

  • You are registered in the

    Dutch population register (BRP)
    .

  • You have passed the civic integration exam or do not need to take the civic integration exam.

  • You can pay the cost of the permanent residence permit.

If you meet all the conditions, you can apply to the IND for a permanent residence permit.
