VluchtelingenWerk Nederland has less presence on site due to less funding

VWN will receive less money from the government to provide support and information to Ukrainians in the Netherlands. As of 1 October, each municipality can decide whether they want to buy VWN's support and information. It is not clear now which municipalities want to hire VWN to help Ukrainians. Therefore, VWN has decided that they want to remain available online for all refugees from Ukraine.

VWN's services are going to change for you

As a result, VWN may not be able to support you in the same way as before. General questions about the Temporary Protection Directive or work, for example, you can continue to ask staff members during the digital consultation hour. You can also discuss your personal situation here. Sometimes VWN might not be able to answer your question in detail. In that case we always refer you to the right agency or person in your area. For example, for questions about taxes or if you are looking for psychological help.

The following VWN services will be less or no longer available in your municipality as of 1 October 2024:

  • In-person consultation hours at a VWN location

  • Counselling at your location where we help you participate in your municipality.

  • Assisting parents with raising children in two cultures.

  • Group training to help you cope with stress and other mental problems

  • Group courses to help you with your money

Some municipalities may start paying VWN to continue doing these services after 1 October. Would you like to know what your situation looks like in your municipality? Ask a VWN team leader in your municipality. If he or she is no longer there, contact VWN by phone or Whatsapp. In a few months it will be clear what services will be in your municipality.
