Additional information about your care if you are under 18
Are you under 18 and have fled from Ukraine to the Netherlands without your parents? Then you will receive a place in a reception centre and help from the Nidos foundation.
You go to the application centre in Utrecht
If you are under 18, you can register at the application location in Utrecht. The staff at this reception location will look for a place for you to stay in the Netherlands for a longer period of time. Have you not registered at the application location because you have gone to relatives or friends in the Netherlands? Then please register at the municipality where you are staying.
You will receive guidance and assistance if you are under 18 years old

Nidos can help you with decisions, daycare, school and the rules in the Netherlands.
Nidos can also temporarily take on the role of guardian while your parents are not here or until you return to Ukraine. Someone who is allowed to make decisions for you is called a guardian.
If you are under 18 and register with the municipality, the municipality will automatically register you with Nidos. But you can also register yourself upon arrival in the Netherlands.
You get a guardian in the Netherlands
After you register at the application location or at the municipality, you will have an interview with Nidos. If you are under 18, you will be assigned a guardian in the Netherlands. This is someone who is responsible for you in the Netherlands. You will get a guardian in consultation with your parents. Nidos always calls your parents before they arrange a guardian for you.
You get a place in a reception centre in the Netherlands
Most Ukrainian refugees under 18 live with acquaintances or in a municipality's reception centre. Do you not have any family or friends in the Netherlands? Or are you unable or unwilling to live in a municipality's reception centre? Then Nidos will arrange for you to stay in a housing group or a Dutch reception family.
This is what you should do if you come to the Netherlands with an adult who is not your parent
Did you come to the Netherlands together with a family member or acquaintance who is older than 18? Then that person can also declare that they will take care of you. Your parents must give permission for this. For example, before you come to the Netherlands, your parents can provide you with a statement saying that another adult will take care of you in the Netherlands.
