Living at a reception centre or with a host family

Last updated: 25/09/2024, 11:26

If you have fled from Ukraine, your municipality must arrange a reception centre for you until you can rent accommodation yourself. You can also live with a host family temporarily.

Emergency reception centre in the municipality

Municipalities are responsible for providing a reception centre for Ukrainian refugees. There is a big shortage of suitable locations in many municipalities. The help of hotels is often requested. In this case, the hotel provides food, drink and shelter.

If there is no space in a municipality, they will contact the

Dutch Regional Coordination Centre for Refugee Dispersal (RCVS)
. You do not have to do this yourself. The RCVS will look for a place for you in the Netherlands.

If the municipality refuses to offer you a place at a reception centre and does not look for another place for you, contact

VluchtelingenWerk Nederland (VWN)
.

Staying with a host family

At the moment, you cannot apply for Private Reception of Ukrainians through RefugeeHomeNL or Takecarebnb. You may be able to find accommodation with a host family through family or friends in the Netherlands. Check that the accommodation is suitable and safe and that you trust the owner. Do not accept just any accommodation.

For information and tips on suitable housing, contact VluchtelingenWerk Nederland or your contact person at your municipality.
