Visit special buildings during Open Monument Day

Want to take a peek inside a castle or other historic building? You can do so this coming weekend during European Hertiage Days. You can enter 1000 buildings and monuments for free.

Looking inside places you would not otherwise visit

Open Monument Day isevery year on the 2nd weekend of September. In 2024 it takes place on Saturday, 14 September and Sunday, 15 September. 1000s of monuments open their doors to the public for free that weekend. All over the Netherlands. So also in your area.

You can visit old castles, or manors with beautiful forests and gardens. But also old farms, mills or pumping stations. Or an old smithy or school in the village. An old church or monastery, or maybe there is an old city hall you would like to look inside. Lots of special buildings in your area are participating and can be visited for free this weekend.

Perhaps you should make reservations

On the Open Monument Day website you can check which buildings are open in your area. Also check from what time to what time a building is open. And whether you need to make reservations.
